Words really can’t describe what has been going on this year and we are only halfway! Be prepared for a wild and crazy rest of 2020. Early this year we started with the Coronavirus that has impacted not only the United States but the entire world. On May 25th the world witnessed the murder of George Floyd which has led to protest police brutality throughout the county, and then add another layer of rioting and looting to the mix. This is not a complete list by any means of what we have been faced with this year.
Not only is 2020 a year no one ever imaged but also an important year because of the Presidential election. On Tuesday, November 3, 2020 we will once again be electing a President to serve for the next four years. On this date the American people will be the deciding factor on who will lead this Country.
Normally at this of election year we are all inundated with political ads from both parties, political conversations on the media, presidential polls, and so much more. Normally, we hear the debates, attacks on one another, and wait till election day to cast our ballot. However, this is the craziest election year I can remember in my life. Four years ago, I thought that was going to be the case since Hilary Clinton was ahead in the polls and so many thought she was going to beat Donald Trump. Though, that wasn’t the case when Election day came along. Now we are in 2020 with the two candidates being Joe Biden and President Donald Trump seeking a second term.
At least at this point we can all agree that these are the two candidates to choose from on November 3rd. However, that is where everyone’s agreement will end, and we will have our own personal views. Have you made your decision on who you will vote for? Do you share your view to others? Do you listen to another person’s view? Do you have a considerate conversation with someone who has a different view?
Talking politics usually leads to uncomfortableness between people who have differing views and sometimes lead to an argument. However, this year it seems the different opinions are exacerbated. We are know being defined by a political party and not as a human being! Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or Independent you are feeling the effects of what is occurring over these past few months. Rather than become united for a common goal we attack verbally and even physically at times, we group people into a category, and we have an expectation for everyone to share our own views and opinions. This approach is going to destroy not only our Country but ourselves as well.
It is not only shocking that we are heading down this path that I am afraid we will get to a point of no return. Where rather than equality we have inequality! Division rather than unity! Hardhearted rather than compassionate! Hatred rather than affection!
First and foremost, we must accept and embrace the fact we are individuals. Labeling people such as Trump Lover, Trump Hater, White Supremacist, Far-Leftist, Socialist, ext. is not the way to go! We will continue to pull people apart this way. We are all spending so much time and focus on mainstream media, social media post, and individuals who share our views only rather than understand both sides. Social media isn’t the best place for news because so much of it is fake. Plus, mainstream media is going to provide the view that their company has. Find facts that are vetted and confirmed and turn to multiple news media to pull together the whole picture rather than one view. Also remember politicians love to talk out of their ass! What they say they will not do!
When sharing your view and especially talking to someone who may have a different opinion consider these questions:
The choices we make today will determine our future. You and only you will be the deciding person on who you vote for at the poll!
